One of the leading Entertainment companies in South Korea,YG Entertainment Shuts Down Acting Management Division. YG Entertainment, better known as the mastermind behind the K-pop sensation BLACKPINK has announced its decision to close its actor management division. The company officials confirmed that the decision has been taken to refocus entirely on the company’s music business. This move was revealed on 17 January 2025 and definitely marks significant restructuring for the company.
This decision impacts many notable actors, including the Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo star Lee Sung-kyung, model and actor Lee Soo-hyuk, and the Queen and I star Yoo In-na. The contracts of these actors including several others will be terminated as part of the transition. In an official statement issued by the company, YG expressed his gratitude to the actors as well as their fans. The statement as followed – “We would like to thank all the actors who have been with us and the fans who have given them a lot of love.”, was well recieved by most fans, but some K – Netizens came to the artists’ defense and criticized the company for making such a sudden and drastic move that could affect the careers pf many great and growing actors in the South Korean Acting business.
Despite the criticism, the company has assured full support for the actors during this period, emphasizing its commitment to a smooth transition.
